About Dr Priya Punjabi

dr-priya-punjabiDr. Priya Punjabi is a ranked Ayurvedic practitioner in New Zealand, having represented the nation on National TV and at the International Health Convention. Dr. Punjabi earned her Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) degree in 1989, at the prestigious University of Pune, under the Tilak Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya School. She trained as a Residential Medical Officer at a range of large hospitals, including Suvarna General Hospital in Mumbai, India. Thereafter, Dr. Punjabi successfully opened and operated her medical clinic (practicing both, conventional Allopathic and Ayurvedic medicine) in Mumbai for seven years.

Arriving in New Zealand in 2002, Dr. Punjabi lectured at the Wellpark College of Natural Therapies, before founding the Ultimate Ayurveda Health Clinic in 2004. Community involvement and knowledge share is an important value of the Ayurvedic practice, and Ultimate Ayurveda is committed to authentically furthering this mission. Dr. Punjabi has presented community education classes titled “Ayurveda for Family Health” under the West Auckland community education programme, currently provides health tips on 3 radio stations, has published an article for the Healthy Options magazine, and has been featured on The Breakfast Show on TVNZ and on NZ Herald earlier in the year. A defining belief of Ultimate Ayurveda Health clinic is that “prevention is better than cure,” and Dr. Punjabi has actively promoted this vision in New Zealand through her interactions with her patients, her teachings, and her media exposure. She is an accredited member of the New Zealand Ayurveda & Yoga Therapy Association, and of Natural Health Practitioners of New Zealand.

Dr. Punjabi’s concentration during her Residency was in gynecological hospitals and fertility clinics, leading to an acquisition of nearly 30 years experience in treating fertility issues. Dr. Punjabi’s personal belief is that successful outcomes occur when patients feel listened to, valued as individuals, and have the time to build a relationship based on trust and transparency with both their primary care doctor and supplementary Ayurvedic practitioner. An effective combination of allopathic assessments with holistic, natural solutions is most likely to lead to an optimal outcome.

Ultimate Ayurveda is one of the limited number of clinics in Auckland to offer Panchakarma treatment, with a qualified Ayurvedic Practitioner. Ultimate Ayurveda further offers treatments for skin disorders, mental wellbeing consultation and programmes.
